PEEP Sample Daily Schedule
This is the Opening the World of Learning (OWL) curriculum daily classroom schedule. The order of the parts of the daily schedule may vary at times. PEEP students attend in the morning or afternoon. (Print-friendly schedule is attached below).

Start-the-Day Learning Centers and Breakfast or Lunch 30 minutes |
Teachers greet children by name as they arrive. Children participate in two or three opening Learning Centers, for example Writing, Books, and Puzzles or Math Manipulatives. |

Story Time 20 minutes |
Teachers read Opening the World of Learning (OWL) storybooks, using OWL teaching strategies for literacy development. |
|
Group Meeting 10 minutes |
Teachers introduce new materials and experiences at the Learning Centers by demonstrating and discussing. |
|
Learning Centers 65 minutes Centers include Books, Listening, Writing, Math, Puzzles and Games, Science, Sensory (sand, water, play-dough, etc.), Art and Dramatic Play |
Children choose Learning Center materials, lessons, and experiences to practice and apply skills, and develop new knowledge. Adults teach, converse, extend language and thinking, and emphasize learning objectives. Children return materials to further develop responsibility and independence. |

Small Groups 20 minutes |
Children participate in one of three small group lessons and experiences. |
|
Songs, Word Play, Letters 20 minutes |
Teachers provide sequenced lessons that further emphasize alphabet letters, rhyming, and other literacy skills. |

Outside Movement 15 minutes |
Outdoor activities (or indoors, depending on the weather) include jumping, hopping, catching, parachute play, dancing, etc.). Staff escort children to the buses and/or pick-up person. PEEP personnel check students’ yellow key chain or button for identification before releasing them. |
